Durban Beef Curry

Ingredients

- 1 kg beef of your choice cut up into curry pieces
- 1/4 cup oil
- 2cinnamon sticks
- 2bayleaves
- 2 star aniseed
- 1/4 tsp roasted and ground fennel seeds
- 1 onion chopped
- Curry leaves
- 1full tsp ginger and garlic paste
- 1/2 tsp tumeric powder
- 2 tbsp mixed masala
- 2 tbsp Kashmiri chillie powder
- 3 grated tomatoes
- Salt to taste
- 3 potatoes halved 2 green chillies split halfway
- 1/4 tsp garum masala
- Chopped dhania
Instructions
- Heat oil in a pot
- Add whole spices
- Onions and curry leaves
- Lightly brown and add ginger/garlic paste
- Add turmeric and masala and chilli powder
- Add in the beef &mix well
- Add grated tomatoes and salt
- Cover and cook on medium heat for about 10mins or when liquids dry a bit and oil surfaces
- Add 500ml boiling water and cook till softened, add more water as needed
- 15mins before end of cooking time, add potatoes and green chillies
- Cook till potatoes are done
- Sprinkle garum masala over and a gentle shake of the pot
- Then add chopped dhania
